Here's one of the best reasons we know of to replace that old, anemic powerplant that may currently reside under the hood of your street rod. It's a fully polished 600 cubic-inch Falconer V-12. These extreme engines are built by Ryan Falconer Racing Engines, Inc.
The milder pump-gas varieties are available with 650 horsepower at 5,200 rpm. Torque numbers are extraordinary, with 560 lb/ft at a super-low 1,500 rpm and a full 750 lb/ft at 4,500 rpm. On race gas, these beasties can be had with up to 1,100 horsepower at 7,000 rpm in naturally aspirated form. Supercharged or turbocharged versions can be had with up to 1,600 horsepower. For this application, may we suggest a very meaty pair of racing slicks out back? You're going to need it in order to harness the brutal twist this engine demands.
